Angelo Contrino

Full Professor of Tax Law at Bocconi University, where he is also Director of the "Master in Corporate Tax Law". Previously he was Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Faculty of Economics "M. Biagi". He is author of several publications on national, european and international tax matters (monographs, collections, articles and essays published in Italian and foreign journals) and member of the management, scientific and review committees of various tax journals. His main areas of interest are assessment, collection and tax litigation; tax proceedings; corporate tax law and IAS/IFRS taxation; taxation of extraordinary transactions, corporate reorganizations and insolvency procedures; european and international tax law; trust taxation; tax avoidance, tax evasion and abuse of tax law. He is a member of the "European Association of Tax Law Professors".

He has lectured and lectures at PhD Courses and LLM classes at various Italian Universities, at the S.S.E.F. “E. Vanoni” of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and at tax law courses organized by the “Consiglio di Presidenza della Giustizia Tributaria” (which is the self-governing entity of tax judges), by the “Association of Tax Judges" and by the "Union of Tax Judges". He is also member of the Scientific Committee of the “Scuola di Alta Formazione e Specializzazione dell’Avvocato Tributarista - Unione Nazionale Camere Avvocati Tributaristi”. Currently, he is member of the “Commission for the Italian Tax Reform” (the “Cottarelli Commission”) and also of the “Working Group on the Evolution of the Tax Justice Regulations”, founded by the CNDCEC.

He graduated in “Economic and Business Administration”, magna cum laude and thesis award, at Bocconi University and in “Law”, magna cum laude, at the University of Milan. He obtained his PhD in “International and Comparative Taxation” at the University of Genoa, School of Law. He also attended the Post-Graduate “Course in International Taxation and Agreements”, University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland, Lugano (CH) and the "Advanced Program in Corporate Tax Law" at Bocconi University. He is member of the Italian Bar (licensed to appear before the Supreme Court) and a Certified Public
Accountant. He is also a qualified Auditor.
