Andrea Calvi

Andrea Calvi specializes in Financial Regulations, advising clients on investment and payment services and financial products, including derivatives and collateral arrangements; incorporation and governance of investment firms, asset managers and payment institutions, also in connection with the performance of activities through a branch or on a cross-border basis; set up and management of collective investment schemes, in particular closed-end or alternative, securities or real estate (also credit) funds; regulatory capital of banks and financial intermediaries; sales and purchases of companies, going concerns and bulks of claims in the banking and financial sector; clearing and settlement of securities trades; centralized custody. Andrea has a significant experience in Fintech, and is regularly consulted to analyse innovative initiatives both by regulated entities (i.e. SGR, insurance brokers, etc.) and start-ups interested in the regulatory development of ICOs, STOs and other digital fund raising or lending entities. Andrea has a deep knowledge of the EU and Italian financial regulations and the international contractual standards.

Before joining Gattai, Minoli, Partners, Andrea started his career and practiced for over 20 years at Loiacono e Calvi, one the first Italian law firms to have chosen – from its foundation – to focus its activities in banking and financial law, specializing in complex and innovative legal matters linked to international finance on behalf of investment banks and other intermediaries operating in the fields of credit, investment services or asset management. In the years 2016-2017, he was Partner at the Firm Galbiati, Sacchi e Associati.
 
Andrea Calvi graduated full marks at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan in 1994 and is a member of the Bar Association of Milan since 1999. He is a solicitor in England and Wales since 2008.
